Yellow and blue boat and a red boat with wakes as they race on the water

Feel the Thunder

Ricky Bobby famously said “I wanna go fast!” in the classic comedy film Talladega Nights. Even though he was talking about NASCAR, the drivers competing in Nashville’s Thunder on the Cumberland boat races have probably said the same thing multiple times in their lives. The only difference is that they reach incredible speeds while on the water. The two-day event, June 15-16, takes place at Riverfront Park which is only about 10 minutes from the Alexis Inn & Suites. Four classes of boats will be racing in this event: F1, Formula Lights, Tri-Hull, and Junior Hydros. What makes this event even more unbelievable is the fact that the entire weekend is free to all spectators. You will be amazed at the prowess that these boat drivers show as they whip amazing turns on the Cumberland River. Whether this will be your first time experiencing a boat race or your fiftieth, you and your family are sure to enjoy Nashville’s Thunder on the Cumberland.
